I always carry a tube of SPF15 in my holdall......wouldn't think of going fishing without it.......

And as STE2260 says watch the sunlight from the water as it can not only burn you but also harm your eyes......Always wear sunglasses.,...Even in winter.......

It's not only the direct sunlight you have to watch out for but the reflected sunlight off the lake too

A wide rimmed hat, factor plenty and lots of fluids. Ive had sunstroke from being out fishing and it was no joke. CREAM IT UP AND COVER IT UP, you know it makes sense.

Cant agree more... it's all too easy to forget just how long you sit there in the sun when fishing.

I always carry some factor 30 suncream with me from April onwards and splat it on as soon as possible and repeat at regular intervals. To be extra careful I rarely fish in shorts, and dont remove my t-shirt. You may feel a little warmer, but the effects of too much sun can be horrific.

I know one or two lads who have had sun stroke whilst out fishing , although there symptoms were not as bad ,

This is no joke,a friend of mine is in a bad way right now because he thought he was being clever now he is in hospital so not so clever is he.

What did he do,well what do most of us do when fishing in the sun,got a good tan except in his case SUNSTROKE now that is nothing to lough at how many times do you see guys and ladies for that matter fishing away with little to no protection on there heads,neck and body's just soaking up the sun until they look like a well done...
