The biggest mistake the average/club match angler makes, is to take too many types and amount of bait with them. IMO. They all end up taking them back home and never being used.

Let's keep things simple, this will win you more matches and sections, and "coin" ;)
A couple of golden rules here, so let's start with those. This is just my experience OK.

1) DO THE HOMEWORK. Read the match reports from the venue you are fishing at, make notes of what bait caught and what was fed. Do this on the internet, ask questions on forums or just read the angling press.
2) I am posting this in April - So the main baits you want to take are SWEETCORN, LUNCHEON MEAT and PELLETS. By this I mean 1 tin of sweetcorn, 2 pints of 8 or 11mm hard pellets and a pint or 2 of cubed luncheon meat.
Keep to these basics, they will catch you the bigger fish, and that will win you matches.
3) Dont get tempted to take casters, maggots or worms.
