Me and the missus fished a club match on sunday ..There were eighteen of us on a thirty peg lake so every one had an empty peg next to them...*and
"no" she didnt beat me this time* It was a nice day with just a few showers, but very warm ...Well, warm compared to what it has been ...I had 50 lb
and came third..but that is beside the point....The point is ..it was a thoroughly enjoyable days fishing with everybody catching and it was the different
methods that caught fish that i enjoyed most......I started on the pole at 8m and caught skimmers and ide untill that slowed down, then came in close to some
reeds which i had been feeding...The roach were going mad in the shallow water ,not big but lotsof them......I was watching a fella opposite me on the ledger
..fishing about 30 m out and he was picking up some nice bream,so i tried the ledger and caught a couple of big ide but no slabs ....I had a large inlet to my
right and then the bank jutted right out so it looked like an island .. I had no one to my right The next peg was around the corner, so i chucked the ledger to
the point of the bank sticking out and as soon as it hit the water the tip wrenched round and i had a carp on .about 3lb....great fun...I caught another two
in quick succession and then nothing........Some one up the lake was throwing dog biscuits in and they were floating down past me at 12m out and there was a
bit of intrest in them from some small fish..but then a big swirl, and another.......Out went the pole with a biscuit on it and within a few minutes the tip
of the pole crashed under the surface and i had a monster on ...I put an extra section on to take it to 13 m then just hung on ....It eventually tired and came
to the net .....9lb 4oz....Whoohoo......Out went the pole again and splash same thing....8lb .....I could win this.....pole went out a third time and
nothing.....sat there for a while ..decided to have a cuppa...just turned round to get the flask and wallop of it went again.......If youve never done surface
fishing on the pole for carp you gotta try it ...it is so exciting and heart stopping when you connect to a big carp.......Well this one went ballistic...I
thought my pole was gonna snap .....but it eventually came to the net....10lb 13oz.......did I say *I could win this*.....Then the wind picked up and made it
impossible to present the bait properly.So it was back to the ledger ..A few more ide and skimmers and as the whistle went ,the tip shot round and i had a nice
little carp to finish.....A brilliant days fishing on a few different methods ..............Cant wait till next time.............Sorry it`s so long ..got
carried away remembering it,,,,,,lol
