Fished peg 39.
Wind gusting from right to left causing a ripple on the water and quite a major tow under the surface.
I fished 3 lines. One at 11 meters ranging from dead depth to 1 foot below the surface with maggot and castor.
The others were 6 meters at dead depth just on the bottom of the shelf with paste, pellet and corn and a margin swim.
The undertow was causing a lot of problems even for a heavy olivette rig at 11 meters. By the time it settled the rig had moved to the left and presentation was being effected due to the gusts of wind every so often. Back shotting didn't even help the situation.
The 6 meter line never produced a bite all match and the margin swim was the same.
Switched over to the waggler to have a scratch around and had one bite and run. Lost the fish at the net because it was foul hooked in the fin.
That was it for the day.
Out of the 15 anglers who fished the match only 5 weighed in. The winner had two Carp for just over 14lb.
There was another match going on at the same time and they were also suffering but it was a bit more productive in the lower numbers due to the water being a lot deeper and warmer. The fish shoal up in there during the colder weather.
Quite a poor start to the clubs season but once the warmer weather hits the lake will come alive. We normally fish it a bit later on in the year.
Never mind. You win some and you lose some.
Taswood this weekend to target the flying Bream.
