t is legal ,if you use min of 6 lbs line and hooks 10 and below with worm or deadbaitThe rule is worm, fly or spinner only. If fishing for eels the hook must have a minimum gape that is measured from the shank to the point of .5 inch. The problem is that the EA dont give a monkeys, about out of season fishing on coarse fish sections of river. |

Thats how the rule is written. Yes worm fly and spinner is for trout but it goes on to give measurments of hooks for eeling. Strange to say the EA dont seem to
be able to differentiate between what parts of a river are considered game fish areas or coarse fish areas.
I used to fish the upper Severn for trout. Size 12 hook and worm was fine. I was checked numerous times by an EA bailiff over a ten year period. I would not under any circumstances consider Shrewsbury never mind Telford to be within the recognised game area of the Severn. |

there are specically game areas on rivers that the ea recognise and the bylaws have been put in place to control the fishing ,but to the ea it seems eels are
not coarse or game fish ! but migrating sea fish with there own set of rules ! .and as they can go anywhere along a river ,theres no specific locational rules
laid down .
