I started off spodding out a mix of groundbait, hemp and crushed boilies out half way along the island then fished a method feeder with Vitalin as the method
mix and a trusty Tiger nut boilie as bait.
My other rod was a medium feeder rod with a bag-up waggler on it with an 8mm shellfish boilie as bait.
I had no bites on the bag-up waggler so changed the bait to a pineapple pellet, still with no bites, and with the wind really picking up it was getting
difficult to detect any bites that might be there, so the bag-up waggler was removed in favour of a normal waggler fished in the margins.
The margins were slow but I managed to land a nice 1lb 2oz Roach and a few smaller ones too.
The method rig finally took off on a strong run, I struck into a good fish, but after a fight of about 2 minutes it slipped the hook
This was followed by a missed Bream of about 2lbs right at the net on the waggler
After another lull on the method rig I started to rotate the baits to try to get some bites, one of the baits was a 25mm meatball from Asda and it had only
been out there for a matter of minutes when I got a good run followed by an aggressive fight resulting in a nice little 3lb 12oz Mirror Carp
The wind was really picking up now and making accurate waggler fishing very hard, so I set up the other Carp rod with an open ended cage feeder and a squid
& mussel boilie this resulted quite quickly in a nice 4lb 8oz Bream
This was the last fish of the session, it was very hard going all day but at least I had a few nice fish to show for my efforts
